The Key To Unlocking Your Best Year Without Reinventing Yourself
Dec 30, 2023 Well well well... NYE is officially upon us and my god, where did the time go?!
In my experience I find that this day brings on immense pressure for people. Whether it's celebrating by going out or creating unrealistic 'new year, new me' resolutions come the 1st of January, only to find by the 15th January they've fallen through. Sound familiar?
If so, just breathe. We've all been there (trust me!). You're not alone, and I've got you! If you're looking to shake things up next year, here's a few simple ways you can invite more love, life and fun into your life - without reinventing yourself.
1. Create Healthy Habits: What’s one thing you promised you would do last year and failed to do consistently because you gave up or made excuses? Start small, whether it’s putting your phone away after 8 pm, or going to bed 10 minutes earlier. Do this consistently for 30 days until it becomes a habit - and then choose another habit and repeat! It’s these 1% increments that will be the thing that changes your life.
2. Embrace the Uncomfortable: Plan four experiences over the year that will push you out of your comfort zone— for YOU. Whether it’s travelling solo, starting a new hobby by rediscovering your passions as a child, or taking yourself out for dinner - the possibilities are endless! Reflecting on my own adventures, such as my first plant medicine retreat, solo travels to Bali, these intentional steps set off a domino effect, pushing me into personal growth. One little leap can create a ripple effect that reshapes your life.
3. Co-create with the Universe: This year, I'm actively choosing to co-create my life with the universe. After a relationship ended, I lost faith and stopped planning, fearing disappointment. Through my healing journey, I discovered that every setback led me closer to my true self. Life involves discomfort and pain, but the growth on the other side is immeasurable. Don't halt your dreams; you're an infinite being with boundless potential. Your current circumstances are temporary; brighter days await.
4. Create your year around experiences: Surprisingly simple but effective—plan your year around experiences. Whether it’s scheduling getaways, a music festival or a class you’ve always wanted to take gives you something to anticipate but also shifts the focus from merely living for the weekends. Place life at the forefront; work becomes more manageable. Craft a bucket list of dream destinations and activities, both small and big, and gradually check them off.
5. Prioritise Your Mental, Physical & Emotional Wellbeing: If you’re someone who isolates themselves when life throws curve balls, I encourage you to do the opposite and seek safety and comfort through meaningful connections/qualified professionals. If you’re the opposite, I encourage you to find some balance with solitude. We were not born to be alone; humans require connection to thrive. Just make sure they’re the right ones.
6. Expand Your Social Circle: Making friends as adults can be a bit daunting. We often shy away from it while secretly craving meaningful connections. Take a leap, extend that coffee invitation, and put yourself out there. There's a world of meaningful friendships waiting for you.
7. Celebrate Your Journey: Take a moment to be proud of yourself. Picture the younger you from five years ago looking back at where you are now. Acknowledge how far you've come and where you want to go. There is a gift in seeing that you have the power to shape your life. If you need support, help is always here.
Remember change takes time, and the truth of who you are already lies within you.
Lots of love,
Kiren x
